Friend Friday #27: Colour Wars*

“The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good, on you!”

— Coco Chanel

Colour is a tricky concept for fashion bloggers. Or so it would seem. Whilst many burst onto the scene in a blaze of clashing hues, the rest of us stick to our tried and tested neutrals. During my recent wardrobe detox I discussed the idea of colour in my own closet and A Pair and a Spare discussed colour in her wardrobe rehab too. This week’s Friend Friday discussion is all about colour:

1. What colour dominates your closet?

Black. My closet is rather bereft of any colour. As I discussed recently during my wardrobe detox, most of my clothes are neutrals.

2. If money weren’t an issue how would you change the colour emphasis in your closet?

I’m not sure I actually would! I like a neutral wardrobe. I don’t actually think it’s boring. It’s certainly nice to add accents of colour, or splash here and there but I’m not someone who likes to go all out. My outfit earlier this week (weds) was quite daring for me really! During my recent wardrobe detox I discovered pair upon pair of coloured tights in my closet, many of which were still in their original packing. I ended up giving them to my sister (link) who definitely knows how to rock some colour!

I think in the past I have tried to incorporate more colourful pieces into my closet but these pieces are always the ones that have ended up being detoxed. I think this is a lesson and one that I intend to learn from.

3. What is your mantra about mixing colours?

I don’t. I accent with one colour maybe but that is usually as far as it goes.

4. For you, how do you incorporate colour into your outfits?

As I said already, I only ever really incorporate one colour into an outfit and it is never really very much of a colour. I tend to leave colours to the experts! Or on my nails!!

5. Which blogger(s) do you think do a good job of incorporating colour into their wardrobe?

Oh gosh, there are so many! This is what always gets me about bloggers is how much colour all of them incorporate into their outfits and leave mine looking drab. To name, but a few: What Katie Wore; Susie BubbleSnippets of Shiny Thoughts; Kendi; and many many more!

Do you wear a lot of colour? Do you like to mix it up to create wonderfully delicious outfits or do you for a simple look, like me? Should I be trying to add more colour to my outfits?

Remember to check out the other contributions to this week’s discussion over at ModlyChic. And if you would like to be a part of the Friend Friday Group, you can find all of the details here.

*A quick note about the title of this post: it was originally “Color Wars” and still will be for many bloggers (those in the US) but being British, I had to change it!
