[INSPIRATION] Converse Hi-Tops

When I spotted this image on Into The Gloss, I instantly wanted the hi-top Converse trainers. They will be the perfect shoes to wear with denim cut-offs all summer long, don’t you think? Sure, I have too many pairs of low Converse trainers already but I don’t yet have a pair of hi-tops in my collection. I am also completely taken with the ecru shade. I have Converse trainers in white and am always paranoid about them getting dirty but I don’t think I’d have the same worries about the slightly creamier shade.

I like Emily’s all white look but to be honest I think I must be a really careless person but I can’t seem to wear white without spilling stuff on myself – either that I’d be paranoid I’d sit in something yucky and stand up and have marks on my bottom!

Instead I’d team the trainers with my denim shorts and bikini top on – finished off with a straw fedora and wayfarers!

How would you wear the cream hi-tops?

[NEW] See By Chloé Sandals

Right now, I’m on an aeroplane, heading towards the Spanish sun! I can’t wait to feel the sand between my toes and have the salty sea water create lovely beachy waves in my hair!

Whenever I go on holiday – and every year at the beginning of summer – I treat myself to a new pair of sandals. As I have usually worn last years right through the soles! This season, I have been a little extravagant and treated myself to these lovelies by See by Chloé:

[OUTFIT] Uniform Dressing

When I read this article a while ago now, it completely struck a chord and I think that it is likely that I am not alone. The article addresses the dilemma of wearing the same outfit more than once, even two days in a row.

I have been “guilty” on numerous occasions of re-wearing outfits that work. There are some bloggers out there who post outfit photos every day and every day wear something new and exciting. That’s not me. Which is why you don’t always see new outfit photos on the blog – cos you’d be seeing the same outfit every day for a week sometimes!

If I find a look that works, I stick with it. In fact, I have even been known to buy the same piece – top/skirt/trousers – more than once so I don’t even need to wait between washes to wear the same look! Yes, that is true! However, I usually simply end up buying different pieces in similar styles. Currently I love the shape and silhouette created by ankle length print cigarette pants! Teamed, obviously, with leg-lengthening court shoes.

Which is why this is the second time in as many weeks that you’ve seen these H&M print trousers on the blog – and the third time I’ve featured print trousers.

I am wearing: tee by Warehouse, trousers by H&M and shoes by Clarks.

In my opinion, if you find a style and shape that suits, why not stick with it? Do you re-wear looks that work? Or do you like to continually mix it up?

[OUTFIT] Free Your Feet

Earlier this week, I posted about Clarks’ Free Your Feet competition for the summer and posted a photo of my new sandals. Well, here’s the whole outfit. This is what I wore for a balmy evening in London last week with my sister and fiancé:

I do like winter dressing: the boots, the layers, the scarves. But after nearly eight months of being wrapped up, I am in need for lighter pieces and sandals. I was pleased to be able to wear the vest my sister bought me for Christmas for the first time! It still wasn’t warm enough to swap my skinny jeans for shorts – and I did throw a cardigan on later.

I was also able to leave my shoes at home and instead wear these new sandals. I love the colour of these leather sandals which will add a splash of colour to any summer outfit. I can’t wait to wear them on my holiday next week. Did I mention I’m off to Spain for ten days – and I cannot wait!?

I was wearing: Urban Outfitters vest, Next skinny jeans and Clarks sandals.

How long do you wait to free your feet? Does it need to be boiling for your to ditch the socks? Or, like me, do you like to wear sandals with jeans and a jumper?

[INSPIRATION] Free Your Feet

Clarks have launched a new competition for the summer. Earlier in the year they asked which flat shoes are your favourite, brogues or ballerinas. Ballerinas won! And now they are asking, when do you free your feet?

Do you throw your shoes and socks off and your sandals on the minute the sun shows its face? Or do you wait until the temperatures rise a little? Or a lot?

For me, I like a little warmth before I free my feet. But to be honest, as long as I have my legs covered and a sweater to keep me warm – I do love the feeling of bare feet in sandals!

Last Thursday when we went to London, we left a rather cold and dismal Cardiff to find ourselves in a balmy sunny evening in the capital. It was beautiful! And definitely sandals-weather! I was very pleased to have my Clarks Oditi Lucky strappy sandals to keep my feet cool! (The whole outfit will be shown here later in the week.)

[SS13] Tribal Print Trend

tribal print trend SS13

Tribal prints were hot on the catwalks for Spring Summer 2013 (here seen at Etro and Dolce e Gabbana). The boho look is one that I love to rock come the summer and so I’m already loving this trend. The bright colours and prints are perfect in the sun. Particularly after a long and dark winter, spent wearing muted tones.

If you don’t feel like making such a bold statement, the easiest way to dip your toe in, is with your accessories: either shoes or jewellery, or even a scarf.

Etro has some great flat shoes that will help to add colour and print to your look. But if you’ve not got the budget for these, Zara has some great options at great prices:

If you’re feeling daring, team your pink paisley print loafers with clashing bold prints. Otherwise, choose a more muted pair of denim cut-offs and a plain tee – and let your footwear do all the talking!

How will you be wearing the tribal print trend this season?

[FRIDAY'S FIVE UNDER FIFTY] Shoe Special

Today’s Friday’s Five don’t just come in under £50, they are also my definitive five pairs of shoes that every girl should have on her shoe rack:

5 must have shoes

  1. Where would you be without a pair of trainers? What would you wear on with your jeans for a Sunday stroll in the park? They’re rhetorical!
  2. Ankle boots aren’t just practical, they are also great transitional footwear, taking you from the office to the bar, and winter to spring.
  3. Ballet flat shoes are an essential: they’ll go with your suit dress for work and also team perfectly with your skinny jeans for weekend coffee and cake.
  4. Just in case summer suddenly decides to make an appearance, it’s always good to be prepared! A pair of sandals makes sense for when the weather heats up. I like to make sure my summer footwear is bright and colourful to reflect my mood, like these by Ravel.
  5. A pair of court shoes will finish off your shoe rack. A chic black pair will work best as they’ll go with everything in your wardrobe and any occasion.

What are your top five essential pairs of shoes that every girl should own?

[HOW TO] Walk In Heels

how to wear high heels

Regular readers will know that I am a flats lover and, until recently, rarely wore heels. But that has changed. And I thought I would share my top tips for wearing heels:

  1. First and foremost choose shoes with cushioning and support. Clarks heels have special Softwear insoles which are cushioned and comfortable. Rockport heels have Adiprene by Adidas technology which reduces impact and allows for easier walkability.
  2. If you have to walk any long distances, make sure to pack your heels up and wear flats. I walk part of the way to work and so I tend to throw on a pair of ballet flats and keep my heels under my desk to wear in the office.
  3. If I’m wearing heels on a night out and I’m not taking taxis or getting a lift home, I usually pack a pair of flat shoes in my clutch for the walk home later.
  4. If your favourite heels don’t have specially cushioned insoles, you can add them for comfort.
  5. If all else fails, Compeed blister plasters will be your best friend, until your heels are worn in!

How do you survive your heels?

[OUTFIT] Orange Clarks Shoes

Despite having a wardrobe devoid of much colour, my shoe rack is a veritable rainbow. Case in point are my new favourite shoes: these orange heels by Clarks.

I find it incredibly difficult to incorporate colourful tops and dresses into my every day outfits but somehow shoes feel like less of a challenge. So I keep buying brighter and brighter coloured shoes – in particular court shoes, to add a splash to my work wear looks.

Like today’s look, which I wore to the office:
