[LOVELY LINKS] Links à la Mode

This week, I had the pleasure of editing Independent Fashion Bloggers’ Links à la Mode post. Picking just 20 of the submitted links was nearly impossible but I managed it and there are some really great posts for your Sunday reading:

LINKS À LA MODE: THE IFB WEEKLY ROUND UP: JANUARY 17TH

Edited by: Emily of Sugar and Spice

We’re already halfway through the first month of 2013 but that doesn’t mean bloggers aren’t still in reflective mode: creating resolutions for the coming year and looking to up-coming trends, whilst also looking back on the trends of 2012. There’s also a reflective element in many of the posts this week over blogging and how that might change over the coming year, not just on a personal level but more generally too. There’s also a good dose of travel inspired posts this week for those who are trying to beat the January blues and jet off somewhere sunny. And if you’re not jetting off somewhere away from the cold, make sure to check out the great how to layer below:

This week Amanda, aka The Online Stylist, reminded us to treasure Life’s Small Pleasures. I think this is a lesson we can all take on board, to make time for the small things that make life that little bit better and more enjoyable. And then when I received the weekly newsletter from The Simply Luxurious Life on Friday, it pointed to a post originally published nearly two years entitled, Why Not Revel in Simple Pleasures? So this week, instead of the usual Sunday Links, I thought I’d share my small pleasures with you:

Life's Small Pleasures

  • A good meal;
  • Good friends;
  • Sharing a giggle with someone;
  • Fresh flowers;
  • A quite moment – or two – to read and unwind;
  • A pretty scene;
  • Breakfast;
  • The first cup of coffee of the day.

What small pleasures do you enjoy each day?

The holiday are literally just around the corner and there are only two sleeps to go! Is everyone else as excited as I am?!

If you’re planning some last minute shopping, I can only wish you good luck!

For me, the weekend before Christmas and Christmas Eve (tomorrow) are all about winding down and recharging. I’ll be watching as many Christmas films as possible: Home Alone, Miracle on 34th Street, Elf, It’s a Wonderful Life, Love Actually. They’re all lined up for an entire day of viewing! Plus, the UK premiere of The Snowman and the Snowdog tomorrow.

Be sure to check back to the blog in the next few days for all of the latest on the post-Christmas sales and all of my top tips for getting the best bargains. Alternatively, be sure never to miss another post again and follow Sugar & Spice on any of these channels:

Clockwise from top left: Bling it On with Styloko and their guide to accessories that’ll jazz up your basics; Wendy Brandes wrote an eloquent rebuke to the horrible trolls who thought they had the right to comment on the appearance of female Olympic athletes rather than concentrate on their sporting achievements; Into The Gloss has a new “office boyfriend” and I’m jealous! The Glitter Guide’s 5 Things To Try This Weekend post is still my Friday favourite; Ann Colville - the lovely lady behind the fabulous beauty blog Cult of Pretty – has done it again, launching a new style blog, Lady, which is about when style grew up; and finally, Faye over at Girl Does Geek discussed the issue of diversity in fashion blogging and the difference between the US and the UK.

I was lucky enough to be included in this week’s Links à la Mode (bottom) over at IFB and I also found out this week that I’ll be editing the feature once a month for the next nine months or so!! Here’s what I’ve been reading this week:

Clockwise from top left: In celebration of the Jubilee last weekend, A Girl, A Style posted a few of her favourite things about English style – a wonderfully nostalgic post which made me feel quite patriotic! Springing Forward

Edited By Taylor Davies

I don’t know about all of you, but I’ve been ready for spring since about, mmm, December. I love cold weather, I love snow, I love bundling up – but I saw so many amazing trends and looks during September’s fashion week that I could hardly wait to wear. At least in New York, it seems like winter barely even arrived this year. Today for example, it’s about 60 degrees in Manhattan! Everywhere people are in their shirtsleeves and sunglasses, it feels and awful lot like spring is already here.

From the looks of this week’s Links à La Mode submissions, I’m not the only one with spring fashion fever. There were so many posts about trends and looks we’ll all be embracing – or are already! From printed pants to neon bags, ladylike dresses and the upcoming Marni for H&M collection – and of course some inspiring DIY projects – everything’s coming up floral! Check out this week’s inspiring and fashionable posts, and as always, thank you for the wonderful submissions!
